Blackmore Wagyu Beef is a family owned business that has pioneered the production of 100% Fullblood Wagyu beef in Australia for more than 20 years. David Blackmore runs the business with wife Julie and their two adult children, Danielle and Ben.

David Blackmore is a fifth generation Australian farmer, and since 1979 has been a pioneer of commercialising cattle embryo transfer programs including importing cattle embryos and introducing new breeds into Australia. He has also consulted on embryo transfer procedures and farming practices in China, Mexico, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and North and South America.

In 1988 on a visit to the USA, David Blackmore identified an opportunity to breed the native Japanese beef cattle. In the beginning he marketed genetics worldwide and also consulted to Japanese companies and Australian farmers in areas of Wagyu breeding, farming and marketing.

Through his relationship with Japan's leading Wagyu breeder and producer, Shogo Takeda, David Blackmore obtained exclusivity to import Wagyu genetics into Australia. He arranged the largest single embryo contract and importation into Australia.

In the last decade, David Blackmore has imported more than 80% of the Wagyu genetics into Australia. He is one of the few Westerners privileged to be invited to numerous Japanese agricultural research centres, universities, AI centres, prominent breeder farms, and feed and processing facilities.

Today David Blackmore breeds only Fullblood Japanese Wagyu, which are not diluted with any other breed, with a strong and passionate understanding of Japanese Wagyu genetics, breeding trends and farming methods.
