Mishima can best be described as the Original Native Japanese Cattle, with records dating back to 1739.

They were isolated on the small island of Mishima in the Sea of Japan. They were cross bred on the main island of Japan with European cattle to create modern Wagyu. They have the ability to produce a high marble score from grass feeding. It is this that gives Mishima the distinct texture of Wagyu and flavour of grass fed beef.

Only one Mishima animal has ever been exported from Japan. David Blackmore was present the day this Mishima bull left the USA quarantine facility. It arrived from Japan under an assumed ‘Wagyu’ name.

The foundation of Blackmore Mishima has been created from breeding Wagyu, Angus and Lowline females to the Mishima bull. It will take six generations to stabilise the breed as ‘pure bred’ Mishima. The Blackmore Mishima breeding herd is fully traceable through DNA parent verification.

Neil Perry, Rockpool Bar & Grill located at Crown Casino in Melbourne, has been extremely supportive of the development of the Blackmore Mishima and currently has exclusivity to this new and exciting product.
